The KUBE Art Boot Sale and Events Amendment

On Saturday, Nicole (Hearts and Skulls) and I attended KUBE for an Art Boot sale.

Our Tables

It was a windy day and our stock didn't always stay on the table, but we had fun.

Hearts and Skulls Mirrors and Frames

While it wasn't particularly busy, we did meet some wonderful artists and crafts people such as Judy and her wonderful artwork, Linda a fellow knitter and Junko a passionate crocheter. We hope to keep in contact with them and expand the network.

We have also decided not to attend the following two Art Boot Sales on Saturday 26th September and Saturday 31st October. We hope, however to attend a Christmas handmade only event at KUBE which will be held on the last weekend of November, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th. And, of course there is also the Craft and Zine fair in Southampton the weekend before this! One slight hiccup is that I now have a weekend job and with theses events being near Christmas, it may not be possible for us to attend, but watch this space.

New Events For August Through November!

Its been a while since we've blogged but thanks to some hard work, mostly by Hearts and Skulls I might add, we have four up and coming events we are attending as oOak.

The first three events are at KUBE gallery in Poole. The Art Boot Sale is held the last Saturday of each month and, although it is open for all arts and crafts, each month they focus on a specific area of art, such as this Saturday the focus is on "Fine Art and Craft".

Entry is free and is open between 11am and 2pm. We will be attending the following dates:

Saturday 29th August
Saturday 26th September
Saturday 31st October

We also hope to have a full table at the Craft/Zine Fair being held by The Art House Southampton. This will be a weekend event for November the 21st and 22nd, 12pm til 5pm. We're not booked in yet but watch this space for updates.

Remember, if you want to become a part of oOak Tree just email us with details of what you make and the area you are from and we'll get back to you!

H@andmade Winchester

Hello,

Phew what a day. Today was oOak Trees first ever craft fair. It went really well! It was really inspiring, if not a little intimidating to be around experienced crafters that make the most beautiful things. It was really busy and a lot of people seemed to take an interest in oOak Tree. If you saw us at Winchester, please do say hi to us on here.

oOak Tree is now ready to spring into action for a summer of events, and is getting ready to get some new recruits on board. If you live in Dorset or the surrounding area and would like to become a part of oOak Tree please get in touch.

So what exactly do we have in mind...
Workshops
Craft Fairs
a new website... all coming very soon.

Hope to see you all around.

Winchester Handm@de

First of all some bad news.

oOak Tree ceased trading at the Boscombe Underground on Tuesday 23rd June. We sincerely apologise to everyone, particularly those we were sharing the stall with and the landlady, Ruth who was very kind to us. We hope that anyone who had orders or queries with us will stay in contact with us, emails are in the sidebar to the right.

However, we are hoping to attend some more events in the future, one of which is Winchester Handm@de on July 5th 2009. TomatoTea and Hearts and Skulls will be sharing a stall, supporting and promoting oOak Tree whilst they are there.

The Handm@de craft fairs are THE place to find awesome British handmade goodies. The first fair was held in Oxford last year in November with great success and as such they decided to make it an annual event! With a growing number of people becoming interested, 2 new avenues were created for 2009: Cambridge and Winchester.

Cambridge was first up in April and was well received, so much so that there is a new date in December! The Handm@de group is continually growing and so we hope to support our artists attending any of the Handm@de fairs!

We hope to see you at Winchester!

BU Update

Its been a fairly good first week at the Boscombe Underground, we've already noticed that we're getting slightly busier this week which is great! We've had loads of people take cards and show an interest in the Network, which is fantastic news for oOak Tree!

Heres a couple more pictures from the Underground:

I painted a sign on an old college canvas and put it up with the help of the boyfriend on Tuesday. Not sure if its really worked yet as people still seem surprised when i tell them the products are handmade by locals!

Nicole bought in a new table for us to display some more items on, as well as making these new displays too!

Theres a lot more stock now, so the stall is looking great with all the different handmade products!

Don't forget, if you're local to Bournemouth and would like to sell your items at the Underground, but don't have the time or funds to do so, we can do it for you! Just get in contact with either myself or Nicole and we'll give you some more information!

Boscombe Underground

Today was our first trading day at the Boscombe Underground alternative market! It opened at 9.30 and we had a slow but steady stream of customers all day, most coming in after the Mayor officially opened the Underground.

We were surprised at the interest in our stall and were very pleased to receive sales! A lot of people picked up cards and complimented our items so we are really pleased to be a part of the BU!

If there are any artists out there who hand make their own products and would like the opportunity to have their items on show at the Underground, please do get in touch. We only charge a commission of 20% on a sale and return basis, which is a lot less than most shops would charge and we are more likely to take on your stock! If this sounds like a good opportunity, please contact either myself (Katrina) or Nicole, our emails are found on the sidebar to the right.

We hope to post some pictures of the stall and market up soon, so please stay tuned!
